Jim and Eileen Barna, Owners
Meet Jim and Eileen Barna, owners of Black Diamond Kitchens.
Jim grew up working in his family’s 40-year-old custom kitchen
shop designing, building, and installing fine cabinetry. He
earned a degree in business and economics and worked as a
consultant in the corporate world before returning to the
kitchen business—his true passion. He most recently worked as a
designer with one of the largest kitchen design firms in
Colorado. Jim’s meticulous attention to detail eliminates the
work and stress of your project, in turn making your entire
experience exciting and rewarding.
Eileen has a degree in mechanical engineering and a passion for
art and design. Eileen’s work goal is to consistently exceed the
expectations of her clients. When working with Eileen you will
note her dependable, creative, and enthusiastic manner. Eileen
will ensure you have a fun and stress-free experience designing
or remodeling your kitchen.
Sue Keck, Design Group Leader
Twelve years of Interior Design experience. Bachelor of Science
Degree in Interior Environment from Colorado State University.
These are just a few of the achievements that set Sue Keck apart
from other designers. Sue originally managed a successful
business before coming onboard Black Diamond Kitchens and brings
many of her past business and leadership experiences into her
work with us. When working with you, Sue achieves a design that
reflects your personality and lifestyle and that allows you to

Jill Swent, Designer
Jill Swent brings a fresh and innovative approach to her kitchen
designs. In addition to her Bachelor’s degree from Washington
State University she has completed numerous NKBA advanced
education classes and has furthered her education in CAD
classes. She always incorporates her clients’ visions and style
into her designs for their living spaces.
Brad White, Project Manager
As Project Manager and Installer for Black Diamond Kitchens,
Brad White combines 8 years of cabinet manufacturing, custom
cabinet construction, and custom woodworking with his
construction experience to anticipate each project’s needs.
Brad’s goal is to take the designers’ vision and make it
reality, all the while keeping the client as excited about the
project as they were when they first walked into the showroom.
Sue Steffen, Designer
With 20 years of Kitchen & Bath Design experience, Sue Steffen
has the knowledge and skills to produce the kitchen of your
dreams. Sue remains committed to your happiness with your
project. Her passion for beauty and organization are what helps
her to achieve gorgeous, convenient kitchens for all of her
clients. Having built two homes of her own, Sue understands the
importance of practicality and staying within a budget. She
says, “The best part of my job is getting to personally know my
clients so I can create a design that will dovetail into their
lifestyle perfectly. I love what I do and I believe that is
reflected in my work.” This is someone who will understand your
needs and translate them into a kitchen that suits your
lifestyle!
Sandy White, Office Manager
A graduate of Colorado State University with a B.A. in Art
Education, Sandy sits at the heart of Black Diamond Kitchens,
overseeing job processing, scheduling, and the ordering of
materials. Her work is led by a simple but weighty philosophy—to
simplify the work of others.
